Lawyer X: what Nicola Gobbo can teach us about legal ethics

The extraordinary story of Lawyer X, criminal barrister turned police informant, has been gripping to watch.  It has led to a High Court decision, a Royal Commission,  the end of some prominent careers, and is likely to result in a number of underworld 'identities' being released from gaol.  But Nicola Gobbo's breaches of ethical standards didn't start when she agreed to work for the police.  From the beginning of her legal career she was entangling herself in ethical dilemmas not so very different from the dilemmas all lawyers face - issues of confidentiality, conflict of interest and legal professional privilege.

The entertaining and informative workshop tells Nicola Gobbo's story, focusing on what she did (and didn't do) and what her outrageous behaviour can teach us all.
