Better board papers
To make good decisions, directors need good information. The ability to write a clear and compelling board paper is therefore not just a great skill to have, it’s also a vital tool in the governance toolkit.
This program is designed to equip senior executives, and other board paper authors, with that tool. It is based on the ground breaking work of former McKinsey consultant Barbara Minto, as espoused in her international best-selling book The Pyramid Principle. It employs a methodology used by most major consulting firms in Europe and the US.
The program:
- is tailored for each organisation;
- brings rigour and clarity to both thinking and writing;
- works with ‘live’ board papers;
- provides a simple but powerful model that uses logic (yes, real logic) to synthesise ideas;
- teaches authors how structure their reasoning for maximum effect;
- allows an opportunity to ‘stress test’ board papers with colleagues before delivery;
- incorporates feedback from board members to foster continuous improvement;
- builds confidence – in those who prepare board papers, and in the boards for whom they write; and
- results in crisp, clear, compelling board papers.
The methodology can also be used to prepare other important documents – business cases, options papers, tender documents, etc.
