Helping individuals and organisations plan their future through personal coaching and mentoring, futures thinking, strategic planning and facilitation, organisational reviews and evaluations.
Megan Hender Consulting assists organisations to grow, develop and thrive, including by:
- undertaking organisational reviews and evaluations to improve efficacy and efficiency
- facilitating planning workshops - tailoring challenging and entertaining planning sessions, using futures thinking and other tools to stimulate innovative thinking
- distilling results into plans (strategic plans, business plans, team plans) that are concise, easy to read and easy to action, and
- seeking feedback and input via interviews and surveys - tapping into the collective knowledge of directors, managers, staff, clients and other stake holders.
This work is now based on years of experience, honing the process to take the complexity out of the (fundamentally straightforward) activities of planning, reviewing and evaluating. We avoid jargon, we apply common sense and we imbed common purpose. Our aim is to leave clients with a strong sense of what they want to achieve and a clear road map to get them there.
Megan also works with individuals as a certified coach and experienced mentor - often assisting people when they are at a career cross road. Her approach is a common sense one focused on asking simple but important questions and providing encouragement and support. This work is tailored to the individual and generally starts with a one off (no obligation) conversation over a coffee.
Identifying risks (professional and enterprise) and establishing systems to manage them.
Megan Hender Consulting has over 20 years’ experience helping organisations of all shapes and sizes develop clear and easily understood risk management frameworks, plans and policies.
Our approach is practical - identifying risks; assessing them; putting sensible steps in place to manage them; establishing regular, easily administered reviews. We assist with the development of risk management systems, the preparation of risk registers, and the writing of the organisational policies and procedures that support them.
Megan does this work at both board and operational level - so she understands risk from all angles. She leaves organisations with simple risk ‘systems’ they can manage themselves - as part of their daily business. She helps boards develop risk frameworks they understand and can trust.
In addition Megan presents risk management workshops - for lawyers, company directors, not-for-profit boards and others.
Working on and with boards to evaluate and improve board effectiveness, working with senior executives to evaluate and improve performance, developing policies and procedures.
As an experienced board member and Chair who has also held a number of senior executive positions, including as CEO, Megan has a strong working knowledge of governance issues. She uses her experience to:
- undertake board reviews
- run tailored governance workshops
- develop governance action plans
- develop board policies and procedures
- assist with CEO performance reviews, and
- coach and mentor senior staff
all with a view to improving organisation performance and developing professional skills.
Bringing clarity and logic to written communication and presentations.
Megan uses the work of former McKinsey consultant, Barbara Minto, (as espoused in her famous book, The Pyramid Principle) to improve written communication and presentation skills. The methodology shows how to think creatively, reason logically, express ideas with clarity, and structure material into a clear and transparent argument. It is perfect for reports, tenders, board papers, and other important documents. It also underpins good presentations.
Megan both prepares material for clients and, through her workshops, teaches client how to use the skills themselves.
